If you're wondering how this is Asian-inspired, the Chinese actually serve this as snacks or appetizers at Chinese restaurants while you're waiting for your food! The main difference between these candied walnuts and they typical candied walnuts is, the walnuts are boiled before they are roasted in the oven. The boiling process removes the bitterness from the walnuts and makes them crispier once you have baked it. Traditionally, they are deep fried as well but to keep things simple we bake it. These are also a lot less sweet so you can snack on more of them without getting a sugar rush.

Chewy Hawaiian Butter Mochi
These Hawaiian butter mochis are made in muffin tins so they are not as moist and chewy as the traditional ones and are actually more crispy and crunchy with a chewy center. They are inspired by me always taking on the edge pieces because of the crispy edges - but if you're looking for a soft and chewy butter mochi this won't be it - but if you're looking for something crispy with a chewy center then you should definitely try it! I like to serve this as an appetizer instead of a dessert because it's just lightly sweetened so you can save the real dessert for later.

Charred Lemon Garlic Edamame
If you're looking for a lighter appetizer, then these tart, savory and garlicky edamame might hit the spot! They are incredibly easy to make, and take about 15 minutes. Frozen edamame is soaked in hot water to slightly thaw it, and then charred on a really hot pan, and then tossed in a garlic butter mixed with a splash of lemon juice!

Honey Miso Garlic Roasted Potatoes
